I (HEART) SCRAPBOOKING!

Heartspiration!

With Valentine’s Day fast approaching I thought I’d take a moment and go over one of my favorite scrapbook and craft embellishments… the HEART!

Embellishing your projects with hearts is a great way to convey feelings such as affection, love, passion, and health.  They are also super versatile; you can add an arrow through the center to represent emotions like love struck or romance or break them in two to represent sadness or separation.  Shapes of the hearts can also be used to communicate things; for instance, two pink hearts with one smaller than the other can mean “love is in the air” and likewise a heart inside of another heart can be used to signify big love or a growing love for something.  Likewise, different colors can be used with the same heart shape to convey different meanings.  A yellow heart can be used to represent friendship or compassion.  A blue heart can can be a great way to denote loyalty and peace and a purple heart can be used to symbolize honor and sacrifice.   I just really love anything that can have so many different meanings and be so adaptable and for me nothing is better than the HEART!  So bust out those heart stamps, die cuts, and Cri-cut cartridges and express your (RED HEART) of scrapbooking.

I got the inspiration for this art journal page from a book I’ve been reading called “Love What Is” by Byron Katie. It’s about accepting reality and being at peace with the present moment. It’s been giving me some great art journaling ideas.

Last weekend I started scrapbooking a birthday gift album for a friend, her twins turned four years old. When I scrapbook gift albums I like to keep the pages simple and classic. I used some Cricut cartridges to make the embellishments for this scrapbook page.

Come scrapbook with us at our day crop at Scrap Diva Retreats on February 4th if you are available. I would love to see you! You can RSVP here on our meetup.

Scrapbook Pages Using Paints, Stencils & Stamps & 2017 Calendar Rollout

Hi everyone, I hope you are having a fantastic week and you are getting a lot of scrapbook pages done! I plan on sending the 2017 calendar rollout in the newsletter tomorrow. If you aren’t already on the newsletter list make sure to email me at Kelly@scrapdivaretreats and I will add you to the newsletter.

Recently I’ve been excited about using paints, stencils and stamps to create more artistic scrapbook pages. Below are a few of these scrapbook layouts.

This scrapbook technique focuses on choosing either one or two photos to highlight. Then you get to have fun using products such as Dylusions paints, Dina Wakley paints along with stencils and stamps to make stunning art scrapbook pages. It’s a great way for you to spice up a scrapbook page. I call this an art scrapbook page. It’s a cross between creating a layout that feels artsy and a scrapbook page!

Got extra stickers? Try this amazing scrapbook technique!

What can you do with all those mismatched stickers? Paint over them!!!

If you have some stickers that don’t match or you don’t like the color you can easily paint right over them using Dylusions paints and Ranger’s mini ink blending tool! The great part about this is you scrap your stash while making those stickers go further.

Step 1. Put your title down and use the mini ink blending tool to color over the stickers.

Step 2. Your stickers will now work as “double duty”! Pull off the stickers and use the new title on another page!

I had fun using the bright bold Dylusions colors on these scrapbook pages. The colors are vibrant and fun! I painted these scrapbook pages using a variety of stencils and Dylusions paints which are sold at Scrap Diva Retreats. Check them out the next time you scrapbook with us.

How to Use Lots of Pictures on Your Next Scrapbook Page

One way to incorporate lots of pictures on your next scrapbook layout is to use them in your title. This is  a great way to scrapbook a lot of leftover pictures, landscape pictures or blurry pictures that didn’t turn out that great.

One Hit Wonder Scrapbook Page – On the Boardwalk

One of my favorite parts about the Shop Hop is all the awesome 6X6 scrapbook layouts you get to collect. I used some of the materials from the make-n-takes to create larger 12X12 layouts. It was fun being creative to see how many different looks I could create with the extra scraps.
