“They say a person needs just three things to be truly happy in this world: someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for.” —Tom Bodett
Day 9 – Living With Purpose
This is the 9th post in our 21 day happy adventure series. So what is a happy adventure? I recently took Oprah Winfrey and Deepak Chopra’s FREE 21- Day Online Meditation Experience on happiness and decided to share it with you. Check out the first blog post here.
Oprah introduced today’s lesson by reminding us that we are the most happiest and most inspired when our lives have direction, have clarity and meaning. If we trust ourselves and pay attention to all the signals that surround us we will be guided toward our greatest fulfillment so that we can live life doing that which gives us our most deepest purpose.
- -Meditation itself can help awaken your true state
- -Our happiness and contentment naturally expand when we are living a purposeful life
- -It’s ok if we don’t t always have a clear vision or understanding of our purpose
- -Living with purpose is self validating
The other day I received an unexpected voicemail from my friend Nicole. I had a stressful day at work and as I was heading home longing for my bed … I checked my voicemail and heard her sweet message;
“I was thinking about you and just wanted to call to say hello.”
All of a sudden I unfurled my brow and my demeanor changed. Those 5 sweet words “I was thinking about you,” made me feel special, it changed my mood and I rejoiced in her kindness.
Her message reminded me that every action we take no matter how seemingly small, has the ability to significantly impact others. Her message calmed me and my interactions with others afterward were improved. As a result, her action had a ripple effect and was paid forward.
I think it is important to remember this as we go about our daily lives that every action we take impacts others. If we can learn to move toward those things that give us the most fulfillment then we can feel immense joy and brighten those around us.
Centering Thought: My actions have purpose
