Hi everyone, Karen helped me out this year at CHA and she wrote this awesome blog post about her favorite products! Check it out below.
Karen’s Favorite New Products at CHA
There were so many great scrapbook and mixed media products to see at the CHA show!
There were products I knew I “needed” and knew I would get them for sure… one way or another!
Then there were the products that looked fun and maybe I would get them or at least play with them if they were readily available and I could get them for a good deal.
How do I choose my favorites?
Well let’s start with the products I actually played with. Ranger’s new Distress Crayons. There are 3 sets of 6 colors for now, distressed, brights and earth tones. They are so smooth and go on great, as Tim says, sort of like lip stick. They can be smudged or used as water colors and be used on light or dark colors. Can’t wait to play with my own!
Ranger also released some new mini stencils. Basically, all the originals in a smaller sizes. They will come 3 to a package. Tim also designed some stamps that are miniature crazy birds! He also has stamps that are crazy cats! Although, I’m not a cat person, they still look fun.
Dyan Reavely has 6 new colors of Dylusions Paints. These paints are so so rich and creamy. I love them!
She also has brand new coloring sheets. The designs are from her stamps. Now you can color them yourself and add them to your scrapbook layouts or journals.
Check out Kelly’s video on all these awesome new products from the Ranger booth.
Ken Oliver came out with 6 new colors of Color Burst along with 12 Liquid Metals which are metallic! I have to admit to having the first 12 colors and never playing with them, but Ken had an awesome make and take on his new 12 x 12 boards and now I’m a Believer!
They are quite fun to play with and I’m definitely going to include them in my work now.
You can check out a Periscope rebroadcast of the Ken Oliver color bursts here:
Let’s talk Prima! I had a fun conversation with Finnabar herself and she is wonderful! She showed and explained her new products to me.
I’m really looking forward to the super heavy body gel so that things stick fast and the art alchemy paints which are gorgeous!
Frank Garcia also has 2 new lines. One is called “Tales of You and Me” and the other is “French Riviera.”
Oh and the flowers just get more beautiful and dimensional every year. I absolutely love Frank’s flowers!
Deco foil came out with a new pen that allows you to write what you want and trace designs from a stencil. This new pen is amazing because you can adhere the foil without using a Minc or other laminator!
Graphic 45 and BoBunny both have some beautiful new lines along with all the chipboard and other ephemera that matches so you can make new and exciting projects.
There are so many new products coming out! I love the new texture and color pasts from Faber Castell, new stamps from Ranger, Stampers Anonymous, Dylusions and several new companies. New gold rub-ons from Tim Holtz, Prima, and BoBunny.
Well for my first CHA, this was an amazing experience. So much to see, so little time. I’ve looked back on the program and realize there were so many companies that I never even saw!
It boggles the mind how many new ideas are constantly coming out and how many older products have been improved.
All the “stars” I met were so friendly and kind to take time and talk with me, Tim Holtz, Dyan Reavely, Dina Wakely, Ken Oliver, Finnabair, Heidi Swapp, Frank Garcia. I know they have to be on their best behavior if they want people to buy their products, but I don’t think there was a phony in the bunch.
They all seemed genuinely nice!
So keep your eyes out for all the new products!
Some are coming out in February or March. Take some classes and have fun playing!
My word for the year is OPEN. I want to be open to new things and I am so ready for these new things!
